McAllisters, edition created in 2021, Ed 35 12 x 18 in (20.3 x 30.5 cm) archival pigment print on Hahnemühle German Etching paper
Elizabeth Magill is well known for her landscape paintings that reflect a sense of the psychological sublime in the presence of nature. Her paintings begin by pouring layers of diluted paint onto horizontally laid canvas’.
From her vast archive of photographs she then selects and transfers images by printing them onto acetate sheets creating layers and endless compositional possibilities. These in turn are incorporated into her paint-saturated canvas by using multi-layers of painting and printing techniques.
This series of four photographs were selected from this extensive archive of 35mm coloured slides which were taken on return visits from her home in London to her childhood home in the North of Ireland over the last decades.
